Get ready to meet Meatball! He’s a 4-year-old Pit Bull Terrier Mix who has the cutest little tail that never stops wagging. Meatball is a goofy boy! He’s very food motivated and likes to always be by someone’s side. He also gives out plenty of hugs! Fur real though, nothing is im-pasta-ble with a dog like Meatball!

The pets that are adopted from Humane Fort Wayne will always have a home here with us. Sami, a 13-year-old sweetheart is a true testament to this. After her owner sadly passed away, Sami returned to us and is now looking for her perfect retirement home (possibly somewhere in France). Sami is calm, quiet, and would love to snuggle up on the couch. Fur real though, Sami is a sweet old lady who just wants to make some new friends!

Fill out an Adoption Application to be Sami’s pal and confidant.

Get your tails down to Humane Fort Wayne to meet Taylan! This 2-year-old Retriever/Mix is full of energy. He loves to run, jump, and play so he would be great for an active family who would keep him busy. He can be a little rough when he plays, but he gets along well with dogs his size. We also recommend that Taylan goes to a home without young children. Taylan can be a little timid with new people and new environments, but once he gets to know you and builds up some confidence, he’s just the sweetest boy who loves belly rubs. Fur real though, you’ll have a tail wagging good time with Taylan!

Say hello to Astra! She’s cat selective, which means that she’s currently living in our shelter’s lobby by the kittens. Talk about tough competition! But Astra is truly the full package. She’s small, cute, young, and super confident! Astra would do best as the only cat in the home, but she absolutely loves people so you won’t miss out on any love or cuddles! Fur real though, Astra has the perks of a kitten, but she’s laid back like an adult cat!

Fill out an Adoption Application to feel Astra’s affection!

Meet Olive The Other Reindeer! She’s a really special girl who is looking for a home for the holidays. At 22 pounds, Olive is full grown, which makes her the perfect size for hugs and snuggles! She’s a typical Australian Cattle Dog – she’s a bundle of energy and loves to have a job to do. Fur real though, Olive is ready to give you all of her love!

Humane Fort Wayne is excited to share that Lotus, a HFW alumni, graduated from K9 school on Friday December 3, 2021 and is now a working police dog for the Allen County Sheriff’s Department. After many long weeks of training, Lotus will be the Northwest Allen County Schools’ resource dog. Join us in congratulating Lotus on her huge accomplishment!

Come say hello to Comrade Mike! This middle-aged boy sure has a big story to tell! He came to the Humane Fort Wayne shelter with a severe upper respiratory infection, and once he was on the road to recovery, he got a UTI. But now that he’s healthy, he’s one confident and happy boy who is excited to settle down in his forever home! Mike loves to chase toys and watch the birds go by outside. He’s talkative, but still appreciates quiet time. Fur real though, Comrade Mike will be a purrfect lifelong companion!

It’s still Adopt A Senior Pet Month so it’s Bo’s turn to shine bright! Bo’s a 9-year-old Retriever/Terrier who certainly has a lot to say. He’s lived a long life and wants to share his knowledge with everyone… and all you have to do is provide the love! Bo has previously lived with other dogs, but we feel that since he gets very excited, he would do best in a home without young children. Bo is a super sweet guy who would love to find a loving person who will snuggle with him now that it’s getting cold out. Fur real though, someone needs to take big boy Bo home with them!

Fill out an Adoption Application to give this special silver dollar senior another chance at a forever home for ONLY $1! That’s right – during the month of November 2021, all seniors are only $1 to adopt. So get your application in TODAY to bring Bo home!

While we are no longer in “kitten season”, it’s still raining kittens at the Humane Fort Wayne Shelter! These are just a couple of the adorable kittens that are available RIGHT MEOW! They are full of energy, plenty of love, and they’re ready to find a family to spend the holidays with.

Can’t adopt right now? Other great ways to help our shelter’s pets are fostering or volunteering! By volunteering, you can help socialize the pets, which prepares them to meet potential adopters. Fostering opens up more space to allow Humane Fort Wayne to care for even more pets until they are able to find their forever homes. Fur real though; get involved at Humane Fort Wayne today to help save lives!

November is Adopt A Senior Pet Month so we are featuring little Daphne! At 8.5 years old, Daphne has plenty of life experience and always wants to be the center of attention. She’s a total people person. She demands to know what’s going on and will even climb up as high as she can go to get the lay of the land. Daphne is a 13 lbs. Rat Terrier, but we think she would enjoy a cat tower so she can keep an eye on her new family! She’s also okay with being held. As long as she isn’t left out, Daphne is a happy lady!

Not only is Daphne an older gal, but she also has some special needs. She is diabetic so she has a special diet and needs insulin shots. Due to this, she will be a foster to adopt dog, which means we will pay for all of her needs while you give her a place to live and lots of love until she is ready to be yours forever!

But don’t let her small body or age fool you – she has a big personality! And she won’t hesitate to tell you what’s on her mind. Because of this, we believe that she would do best as the only pet in the house so she has your full attention. Fur real though, Daphne is one spunky little gal!

Daphne is not yet available for adoption, but she will be soon! So if you are interested in meeting Daphne, then fill out an Application TODAY! A special gal like Daphne won’t be at our shelter for long!
