Meet Lilibet. ❤️

Lilibet is the kind of dog who can break your heart without making a sound.

This beautiful German Shepherd came to us from a breeding background, and the world is still a very frightening place for her. She is incredibly scared, and when she’s overwhelmed, she shakes. You can see the fear in her body language, even when all she really wants is to be close to someone.

The hardest part is watching her want something she’s not quite brave enough to ask for.

Lilibet wants pets. She wants affection. She wants to know what it feels like to have someone gently tell her that she is safe. You can see it in her eyes when you reach toward her—she wants to trust you. She just hasn’t learned yet that hands can be gentle and that people can be kind.

Lilibet is also a definite flight risk. Her fear can take over quickly, so she will need an adopter who understands the importance of security and is committed to keeping her safely contained while she learns about her new life. She will need patience, consistency, and someone who will never expect her to become confident overnight.

She doesn’t need someone looking for the easiest dog. She needs someone willing to see the frightened girl underneath the fear and give her the chance to finally experience the love she has been missing.

She is sweet. She is scared. She is still learning. And somewhere inside that trembling little heart is a dog who desperately wants to be loved.
