Same Home, New Address
901 St. Francis Drive
Part of Leesburg Rd. from Spring St. to Main St., including the planned extension to Jefferson Blvd., has officially been renamed to honor St. Francis of Assisi, the namesake of the University of Saint Francis (and the patron saint of animals!).
So, Humane Fort Wayne’s Sharon Bodenhafer Critter Center, home to our shelter and Clinic Plus now officially resides at 901 St. Francis Drive. We expect it will take a bit for Google and Apple Maps to catch up with this change, so we appreciate your patience while we navigate all of the updates!
Important Traffic Info
Visit our Shelter Via Spring Street
St. Francis Drive (preciously Leesburg Road) at Main Street is CLOSED now through approximately July 31 while the city works to complete construction on a new roundabout.
Our main shelter location, the Sharon Bodenhafer Critter Center, located at 901 St. Francis Drive will still be accessible via Spring Street. Please turn on to St. Francis Drive from Spring Street, near the University of St. Francis, to reach us.
You will need to drive past the “No Thru Traffic” signs to access our facility. We truly appreciate your patience during this time.

We’re for people. We’re for pets.
We’re for Love, Unleashed.
Our Goal
Humane Fort Wayne is Northeast Indiana’s hub for pets and the people who love them. For more than 65 years, we’ve served as our community’s leading resource for helping animals find – and keep – their forever homes.
Our Animals
Animals come to Humane Fort Wayne from all kinds of circumstances. Once they enter our care, we provide medical services, rehabilitation services, behavioral assessments, and of course, lots of love and attention to prepare them for their adoption!
