Last month we offered our heartworm special and performed 250 tests at our clinic! Of those 250, 7 came back positive for heartworm, which requires difficult treatment and extended care. Fort Wayne is also the 10th biggest city in the country for roundworms.

With all kinds of fleas, ticks, and worms threatening the health of your pet, it is so important to keep your furry family members safe by using preventatives. At the Humane Fort Wayne clinic, we offer a variety of options to choose from so you can rest easy knowing that your pet is protected!

🐾 Stop by during our Wellness Walk-ins (Monday-Thursday 9am-11am & 1pm-4pm at our Maycrest location) to protect your pet!

🐾 View all of our wellness services and preventative information on our website: humanefw.org/wellness-services/

🐾 If your pet has visited us in the past, you can check out our online pharmacy to purchase preventatives from the comfort of your own home: humanefw.org/online-pharmacy/

Cat Room 2 has been temporarily converted to Thick Camp (for cats 14 pounds and up), where we offer a low fat diet, enrichment feeding and activities such as bird watching, high jumps and string play. ❤️

The goal is not to get them svelte or skinny, but to have the cats get used to timed feedings, moving around their environment and adding more activity to their daily routine. When free fed, or when provided a full bowl of food 24 hours a day, we see cats start to carry about 5-8 extra pounds of weight on their joints and organs. It can cause long-term and expensive health issues and most of this is avoidable by measuring portions and adding play to your cats' day.

🐾 If you are interested in seeing how camp is going, you can visit our website to see the cats’ profiles and watch the live streams of the cat rooms: humanefw.org/adopt/adoptable-cats/

How do people get in on this "thick camp" asking for a friend 😁

I know someone who needs this camp 😂

Kathy Swank

Makayla Hurd

I love this 😂 so I need to start thick camp in my house my joey could loose some lbs what do you recommend food wise and how much when divided into ice tray?

We only have 1 "thick" cat in the house and the bowls are always full. Shadow doesn't get "around" much lol. She likes her spot on the bed most of the day.

Can I enroll at Thick Camp? LOL! Good work, Humane Fort Wayne!

This works when you don’t have 4 cats on different diets in the same house who are hungry at different hours of the day 🤦🏼‍♀️ I’ll gladly take suggestions though!

I feel as if I should also be a resident of this camp. How do we sign up?

This is the BEST!!

What food do you recommend for "thick" cats?

Should be Thicc Camp 😄

My cat needs this

Marcy Treesh and Coby Treesh It's a Chonk room! Maybe we should do this for Chonko DeBonco! 🤣

Hahaha!!! That is perfect- can’t wait to visit Thick Camp and provide lots of positive affirmations to its residents!

I've put both of my cats on a timed feeding routine. Still awaiting results. Lol

Can we enroll our cats in Thick Camp? 😆

Khristina Nicole Allie Sutton “thick camp” 😂😂😂

Here at Humane Fort Wayne, we value all dogs - even the ones that are often overlooked and underappreciated. This week we are featuring our first dog on our blog! Gratia is a 4-year-old American Bulldog Mix who is obsessed with playing ball. There is nothing she enjoys more than catching a tossed tennis ball or chasing after one. She’s talented and super sweet, too! Fur real though, Gratia is the perfect playmate! ❤
